How Vidonary Scaled a Production-Ready Video Editor to Thousands of Users

Vidonary already had strong momentum, but scaling their editing infrastructure internally would have slowed product growth. RVE gave them a production-ready foundation built for performance, scale, and rapid iteration.

How Vidonary Scaled a Production-Ready Video Editor to Thousands of Users

What is Vidonary?

Vidonary is an AI-powered video creation platform designed to help teams and businesses create high-impact video content consistently. It brings idea generation, scripting, recording, editing, and publishing into a single workflow. The goal is simple:

Make video creation fast, repeatable, and accessible, without needing an agency or production team.

The Mission

Vidonary exists to solve a very specific problem:

Video works - but most people don’t do it consistently.

Creating content is time-intensive, expensive, and technically overwhelming. Vidonary removes that friction by turning video into a system, not a skill.

Plan > Record > Edit > Publish
All in one place

Built by People Who Actually Use Video

Vidonary isn’t theoretical.

It’s built by people who have published thousands of videos and understand what actually drives performance. That thinking is baked directly into the product:

  • idea generation isn’t random - it’s structured
  • scripts follow proven frameworks
  • videos are designed to convert, not just look good

This isn’t a video tool. It’s a system built on what actually works.

Backed and co-founded by Daniel Priestley, Vidonary was built to help founders and creators turn ideas into consistent content output.

The Challenge

Vidonary didn’t start from zero. They already had an internal video editor in place, but as they pushed it further, the cracks started to show.

Video editor infrastructure is more than UI. Rendering pipelines, large file handling, storage constraints, playback performance, and scaling all need to work before the product features can shine. The team quickly realised:

continuing on their existing foundation would slow them down - not speed them up.

They had a choice: keep investing time, money, and engineering effort into editor infrastructure, or focus entirely on the product they actually wanted to ship. They chose the second.

The Solution

Vidonary used React Video Editor as the foundation.

Instead of owning timeline rendering, playback sync, drag-and-drop, and media handling from scratch, they plugged RVE directly into their stack. This allowed them to focus on their actual product - not editor infrastructure.

Implementation

The team had a prototype running in days and a fully working editor in under 2 weeks. By day 14:

Vidonary had a real, customer-ready editor live inside their product

3+ monthsvs custom editor infrastructure

RVE removed the hardest part of launching a video product

Timeline rendering, playback, drag-and-drop, and media handling were already solved - letting the team focus entirely on their product experience.

The Stack

React + Next.js > Frontend framework
RVE Pro > Video editor core
Custom Workflows > Customer editing experience
Vercel > Deployment

Key Results

Impact

  • Launched a customer-ready editor in 14 days
  • Eliminated 3-4 months of video editor development
  • Onboarded first paying customers within the first month
  • Team focused on customer workflows instead of editor plumbing
  • Codebase stayed clean and maintainable - no vendor lock-in

What They Shipped

The final product includes:

  • Timeline editing - customers can arrange clips, captions, and media directly in the browser
  • Template system - ready-made video layouts that users can customize with their own content
  • One-click rendering - cloud rendering pipeline connected to the RVE editor
  • Brand kit integration - custom fonts, colors, and logos applied automatically

In Their Own Words

Martin and the Vidonary team shared this after launch:

"Sam from React Video Editor worked closely with our developers to help us build one of the most important parts of Vidonary: editing.

Without that support, we would not have shipped a product this strong. We have already seen over 1,300 customer signups in a short time, and users are really happy with the experience.

The support has been fast, hands-on, and consistently reliable. We could not be happier with both the product and the partnership."
